It has come to my attention that, in their tradition of wringing every last drop of money from their customers, EA has already released a new pack of parts for Spore. This mini-expansion, if you will, is available for $20.

Seriously?

So I pay $50 for the base game, and then another $20 just to make my critters look different?

No thanks. Especially not so soon after the base game release that there is plenty of speculation regarding whether they even waited for the game to go on sale before creating this pack.

There's apparently a full-blown expansion in the works for a few months down the road, to expand gameplay with....stuff we were told would be in the base game, but was cut for time reasons. Hm. Took a decade to develop the game, but they couldn't spend a couple more months finishing stuff they had been dangling in front of fans? Guess that wouldn't have made them as much money.

I won't be buying the "parts" pack, and I won't be buying the expansion. Screw you, EA. Give us the old Maxis back.
